Our St. Louis Adventure

St. Louis Gateway Arch

Things to Definitely Not Miss

St. Louis Gateway Arch

There is no fee to get in the museum under the St. Louis Arch but you definitely would want to wake up early to avoid the crowd. The Gateway Arch opens at 8:00 am and gets busy as soon as it opens. We made our way late Saturday and was not able to get to the top of the arch because of the long line to get in (security checks bags and you have to go under a metal detector), get tickets to go up the viewing area (10 each) and the tram. Noting this we woke up early the next day, got there at a decent time of 8:20 (20 mins after it opens), there are no lines to get in and to purchase our tickets (also, you can only purchase online tickets for the day before). Our tram left at 9:25 AM (5 minutes early and an hour before we bought our tickets) they only sell limited number of tickets for every 10 minutes so getting your tickets early is important specially if you have other plans during that day.

Getting to the top is like riding a rollercoaster/ferris wheel. It is not for the faint hearted and people afraid of small spaces and heights. The "trolley" or pod is good for 5 average weight and height person. Once on top of the viewing deck, you will be able to see the Mississippi River and the downtown area of St. Louis including the City Hall and the famous baseball stadium for the St. Louis Cardinals and NFL stadium for the St. Louis Rams (all major league sports division).

It took us 10 minutes tops to snap pictures for souvenirs but those 10 minutes are absolutely precious! The view was magnificent and its something you can chalk up from your bucket list.
